Coronavirus (COVID-19) impact on recruitment – update Tuesday 24 March.

HMPPS recruitment has to be safe and we all have a duty to stay at home and away from others, where possible. In line with government policy, we have made a decision to temporarily suspend face to face interviews. We are looking at arrangements for alternative methods of assessment, please check back here for details.

If you have already started your application, we will be in touch with you and keep you up to date on changes to the recruitment process.

For more information, please read our Frequently Asked Questions below. These will be kept up to date with the latest information.

For other prison and probation roles, please refer to the following information:

1. Is the prison service continuing to recruit?

No, we have taken the decision to close all OSG campaigns at present. We are focusing efforts on progressing candidates that have already applied through the interview stages using an alternative interview format. Campaigns will re-open in the future and we would encourage you to check the website frequently.

If you have already started your application, we will be in touch with you and keep you up to date on changes to the recruitment process. Should you have any questions in the meantime, please email MoJ-recruitment-vetting-enquiries@gov.sscl.com.

2. I have accepted a formal offer but I am waiting for my vetting

The process remains the same. As soon as we have processed your vetting we will let you know and be able to welcome you on board.

3. I am due to start my training, is that going ahead?

Any OSGs joining us will not receive their usual two-week training at this time and will instead be deployed to a prison for local training.

Candidates should contact SSCL via email MoJ-recruitment-vetting-enquiries@gov.sscl.com to check the situation in their area.

All of our training, events and assessments are being kept under review.
